Phony Ppl은 각각 보컬(Elbee Thrie), 리드 기타(Elijah Rawk), 베이시스트(Bari Bass), 퍼커션(Matthew Byas), 키보드(Aja Grant)를 담당하는 다섯명의 브루쿨린 출신 뮤지션으로 이루져있다. 

뉴욕에 위치한 미국 대표 재즈클럽 'Blue Note'에서 residency(한 곳에서 여러차례 공연을 하는 콘서트 투어의 일종)를 할만큼 실력을 인정받은 밴드이다.

대표곡으로는 앨범 'Yesterday's Tomorrow'의 수록곡  Why iii love the moon이 있다.

Phony Ppl의 음악은 한가지 장르로 단정짓기 어렵다. 그들은 펑크, 재즈, 소울, 알앤비, 힙합, 레게까지  모두 아우르는 음악을 하고있다고 자신들을 소개한다.
